Children & Youth Education
Sunday School
Children's Church will be offered during the summer schedule. Children will be dismissed from church following the children's sermon and will have their own special bible lessons and crafts. They will return to the sanctuary after the sermon.
At Bethany, we believe that one of our most important missions is to educate and engage the young in the Lutheran faith, beginning at an early age. We have a variety of Sunday school classes available for children beginning at age two through high school. Our instructors are passionate in teaching all ages about God using Biblical instruction, stories, songs and crafts. Classes begin at 9:45 am and are held from September – May.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer our church welcomes children, ages 3-12, from Bethany and our surrounding community for a fun filled week of exciting adventures related to the Bible. Children learn about Jesus and His love for them through stories, songs, crafts, and games.
Youth Group
Bethany’s Youth Group is active, both in the church and the community. Our young members impact lives by reaching out, growing in faith, worshiping God, and serving others. They plan community service activities and fundraisers, as well as recreational outings such as laser tag, bowling, and more. All teens are encouraged to attend the monthly student-led group meetings.
Holy Communion Instruction
In preparation for receiving the sacrament of Holy Communion, children are offered Holy Communion instruction. These classes, held during Lent, teach children about God’s love through the Eucharist and the sacrifice Jesus made for us. At the conclusion of the class, family, godparents and friends are invited to celebrate the communicant’s First Holy Communion during a worship service.
Confirmation Instruction
Confirmation in the Lutheran Church is a public profession of faith, usually by 7th and 8th graders, after two years of intense study of the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism. Confirmation classes are taught weekly by Pastor Ferro and Melissa Todd to prepare students for this important step in the reaffirmation of their baptism and in preparation for leading a Christian life.
