Health and Safety Precautions for Covid-19

With more area churches and businesses re-opening, Bethany’s Church Council has decided to resume worship services starting on June 28 with two worship services at 8:30 and 11:00am.

For the health and safety of those who attend, we will follow these general safety measures:

  1. Requiring worshipers to wear masks.

  2. Asking people who are showing symptoms of infection to not attend worship.

  3. Maintaining physical distancing of at least six feet at all times including not congregating in the Welcoming Room, Sanctuary, and other public areas.

  4. Discouraging all physical contact such as handshakes and hugs.

  5. Cleaning the sanctuary between worship services.

  6. Limiting access to certain parts of the building.

  7. Continuing to offer online options for those who do not attend worship.

In addition, the worship service will be modified to lessen the risk to those who are present:

  1. Block off alternate pews and limit seating to members of the same household or singles on opposite ends of each pew.

  2. Eliminate congregational singing and minimize spoken responses.

  3. Receive offerings through a secure collection box instead of passed plates.

  4. Hold off sharing communion in the Sanctuary until we can do so safely.

  5. Use only disposable bulletins, and not hymnals, for the order of worship.

  6. Limit the number of people leading and assisting with worship services.

  7. Keep the worship service length to 45 minutes or less.

The goal of these measures is to meet the spiritual needs of our congregation while maintaining the health and safety of as many as possible. We thank you for your patience and support as we figure out the best way forward to re-open Bethany in a safe and responsible manner.

For those of you who aren’t ready to join in person, we will continue to share our weekly recorded messages and sermons. You may find them at the link below and on our homepage.
